Red-crowned ParrotAmazona viridigenalis
12" (30cm) A native of Mexico, Red-crowned Parrot inhabits urban, agricultural, and forested areas. It is found in the U.S. in southern California, Texas, and Florida. These parrots are highly gregarious, flying between communal roosts and feeding areas and delivering raucous calls in early morning and late afternoon. At other times of day the species is less conspicuous, as it feeds or rests within foliage.
